Fred Baillergeon
Fred Baillergeon, age 85, passed away March 24, 2020.
Fred is survived by his wife Simone; his son, Frederick (Rick) Baillergeon and spouse Le of Lansing, Kan.; grandchildren, Jacklyn M. Baillergeon and Michael Baillergeon; daughter, Roxann Baillergeon and spouse Thomas Waggoner of Orland, Calif.; grandchildren: Sarah Moen, Shawn Waggoner, Michele Riefert, Maria Sharp; great grandchildren: Kaiya DiGenova; Hannah, Emma, Brayden Waggoner; and sisters, Maryann Griffin and Barbara of Orlando. Fred, one of six children, was born in Portland, Maine, to William E. Baillargeon and Barbara A. Coyne-Baillargeon on January 22, 1935.
Fred retired with 20 years of distinctive service in the United States Air Force; he was a 1st SGT (MSGT) and served during the Korean and Vietnam Wars, with two tours in Vietnam where he was wounded. He was awarded several medals, including two Bronze Stars and Purple Heart. After his military service he supervised school district transportation and maintenance department’s for Leelanau and Pinconning School systems and tested school bus drivers for the State of Michigan, prior to moving to Sun City Center, Fla., where he enjoyed operating his golf shop, playing golf (he was well known for being highly competitive and used a putter that didn’t miss) along with his home maintenance business. He enjoyed many years of volunteer work with the Lion’s Club of Maple City and Juvenile court in Leelanau County, Mich. Fred also served on the school board for Glen Lake Community Schools. Fred receive a letter of appreciation from the Dept. of the Interior (National Park Service) for the successful rescue of a young man who had been buried in an avalanche while hiking the Sleeping Bear Dunes. Fred also had a gift; he could fix or repair anything.
The discipline and patriotism he learned in the Air Force never left him, as a retired 1st Sgt. he would tell it like it was, as friends and family will attest.
Services with Full Military Honors will be held Jan. 22, 2021, at 1 p.m. at the Sarasota National Cemetery, 9810 S.R. 72, Sarasota, Florida 34241. Friends and family are welcome.
Florence Ellenberger
Florence H. Van Valkenburgh Miller Ellenberger, 110, passed away on December 30, 2020. Born May 30, 1910, in Rochester, N.Y. to Claude Van Valkenburgh and Elizabeth Gurtler. She then moved to Mellenville, N.Y. and, subsequently, spent her later years in Sun City Center, Fla.
An active person, she was a 50+ year member of the DAR and Eastern Star, serving as Regent, Matron, Grand Electa and was a volunteer to many organizations. She was an ordained Deacon at St. Andrew’s Presbyterian Church in Sun City Center, Fla.
She was pre-deceased by three husbands: Almon P. Miller, Irving E. Wilcox, Forreste I. Ellenberger; and three children: Almon M. Miller, Charles A. Miller, Florence E. Genito; and sisters: Elizabeth (Wilbur) Miller, Jean (Charles) Wasner, Roberta (Harold) Wagner; and brother, Claude Van Valkenburgh. She is survived by daughter-in-law, Louise (Charles) Miller; son-in-law, Ralph (Florence “Ellen”) Genito; 11 grandchildren; 18 great-grandchildren; seven great-great grandchildren; as well as several nieces and nephews. She will be greatly missed by all.
Graveside services will be held at a later date.
Monica Junge
Monica Maher Junge of Apollo Beach passed away on Dec. 29, 2020, at St. Joseph Hospital South. She was born April 17,1951, in Red Bank, N.J., to parents Hugh and Monika Maher.
Monica is survived by her husband Jens, brother Bill and stepson David. We relocated to Florida in 1990 where she took a position at the Chamber of Commerce in Sun City Center. She loved to work there to serve the public. She was also a member of the Apollo Beach Woman’s Club.
Monica loved our house on the water in Apollo Beach and boating as well as cruising in Europe and the Caribbean.
In deep sorrow I have lost my loving wife Monica after many years of illness and think she is now in a better place.
Monica’s ashes will be placed in Tampa Bay and at her parent’s marina in Red Bank.

John H. MacPhee
John H. MacPhee, 96, of Sun City Center, FL, passed peacefully at home on Dec. 25, 2020, after a long illness.
Born in Boston, MA, he was a veteran of WWII. He was in the first wave on D-Day on Omaha Beach, Normandy, on June 6, 1944, with the 1st Infantry Division, the Big Red One. He was awarded a Purple Heart and a Bronze Star with Cluster for wounds received during the invasion.
John retired from the United States Postal Service in Yarmouth, MA. He also was an active lifetime member of the American Legion and served as the commander of Post 197.
John was a loving husband, father and grandfather. He enjoyed gardening, especially roses. He would often be seen at the various dance clubs, if not at home reading or traveling.
He was loved by and will be greatly missed by his wife Cheryl; daughter, Judith Matson and husband Stephen of Mashpee, MA; son, John MacPhee and wife Deborah of Yarmouth, MA; and many grandchildren and great-grandchildren. John was predeceased by his first wife, Doris Connors MacPhee.
Services will take place at a later date at the National Cemetery, Cape Cod, MA.
