Snowflakes and angels in Florida?
Snowflakes and angels in Florida? Absolutely!
But, what purpose do snowflakes and angels have in Florida, you ask?
To help victims of Alzheimer’s disease and recognize their caregivers.
As no two snowflakes or angels are exactly alike, each Alzheimer’s victim is different in his or her needs and care. And that is where the Sun City Center and Kings Point Duplicate Bridge Club steps in.
The club membership is taking donations of $10, $15, and $20 for handcrafted decorative snowflakes and angels throughout the holiday season to raise funds in the club’s ongoing effort to support local Alzheimer’s organizations, such as the local Samaritan Alzheimer’s Auxiliary, who is on the frontline daily supporting and caring for Alzheimer’s victims and their caregivers.
These offerings, part of a major effort by the Sun City Center and King’s Point Duplicate Bridge Club, will be collected and incorporated into the club’s annual effort to support the Longest Day Fundraiser that culminates in June.
The annual fundraiser is also designed to help the National Alzheimer’s Association eliminate the dreaded disease through advanced research, providing and enhancing care, as well as reducing the risk of dementia through the promotion of brain health.
Donations for this endeavor will also recognize the hundreds of caregivers, perhaps someone you know, who every hour of every day are providing the necessary assistance for these victims to live their lives and to have a better day.
As all snowflakes and angles have their own identity, each of us has been touched by individuals who have their own struggles with this horrific disease. This is everyone’s opportunity to help Alzheimer’s victims, honor their caregivers and, at the same time, help eliminate this terrible disease.
Snowflakes and angels are known not to “hang around” for very long, especially in 80+ degree weather. But with everyone’s financial assistance (which is tax deductible), these handcrafted snowflakes and angels, which are so appropriate for holiday decorations, will be with you long into the future as a reminder of your significant contribution to good memory care.
Handcrafted snowflakes and angels can be obtained at the Duplicate Bridge Club of Sun City Center and King’s Point in the horizon room of the Atrium Building on the North Campus at Sun City Center on Saturday’s in November and December between the hours of 10:30 am and 12:30 pm.

November is National Caregiver’s Month. Be an angel; provide support in recognition of the caregiver or the victim who has trusted you, someone you know now or will know later in life.
