Ruskin Christian School celebrates grandparents
On Wednesday, Oct. 16, Ruskin Christian School honored its grandparents with a continental breakfast with much of the food donated by local businesses. After breakfast, grandparents attended classrooms and spent time with their grandchildren. To end the day, an assembly was held in their honor. Students sang songs about grandparents and God’s love. Several students read poems and acrostics that they had written especially for their grandparents.
There were more than 200 grandparents and other guests at the event, some coming from as far away as Puerto Rico, South Dakota, Illinois and Michigan.
The annual Grandparents Day offering to the school was $4,200, and it will be allocated for purchasing items for students’ enrichment. Previous purchases have been playground equipment and benches on campus property.
Grandparents Day is a wonderful event to honor those who have led a legacy in their families that join with Ruskin Christian School.
The school wants to thank the following local business for partnering and making the breakfast a success: Panera Bread, Riverview; Barbara’s Family Restaurant, Ruskin; Cypress Creek Produce Co-op (Cassie); Winn Dixie Harbor Village; Village Inn, Riverview; First Watch, Riverview; Bob Evans, SCC; Mi Viejo, Apollo Beach; Taco Bell #033297 Apollo Beach; Subway, Ruskin; Chick-Fil-A, Brandon; Denny’s, SCC; and Harriet’s Flowers, Ruskin.
