Candidates set event dates for Honorary Mayor of Riverview race
By LINDA CHION KENNEY
The race is on for honorary mayor of Riverview, featuring three candidates, 13 events and four nonprofits set to share in the proceeds.
Formally announcing their candidacies at the Oct. 17 kick-off party at The Forge Irish Pub were Daniel Cyral, owner of Hypnotic Engagements, and Bryan and Marijean Reith, also known as “Team Reith” with Re/Max Realty Unlimited.
Cyral is raising funds for the South County Spartans Athletic Program, featuring youth wrestling, golf, cheerleading and flag and tackle football programs. Also, for My Warrior’s Place, a retreat and resource in Ruskin for veterans, service members first-responders and military family members.
The Reiths are raising money for the Impact Program, founded “to educate, equip, empower and support students, parents and teachers in the area of sexual risk avoidance and healthy relationships.” Also, for the Emergency Care Help Organization (ECHO) in Riverview, which assists Hillsborough County residents in crisis, with food, clothing and access to life-stabilizing programs and resources.
Ten percent of race proceeds are reserved for the chamber.
Cyral said he is excited to get the race rolling and to possibly succeed Bill Andrew, 2019 Honorary Mayor of Riverview. His campaign manager is Jill Andrew, director of community relations for Tessera Brandon.
“On a personal level it’s exposure for my business, but it’s all about the charities,” added Cyral, who on his 18th birthday received from his father a book on the subconscious mind, which led to his career path. Hypnotic Engagements focuses on clinical work and entertainment fundraisers.
This the second race for the Reiths, who ran for honorary mayor in 2017. Their campaign manager is Craig Beckinger, owner of ABC Event Planning.
“The Riverview chamber has had incredible growth,” Marijean Reith said. “We just wanted to give back and to give everybody a good time.”
