According to the calendar, it’s officially fall. However, if you’re waiting for leaves to change colors, forget about it. The only thing that changes color in Florida this time of year is the color of license plates as the snowbirds return.
My only complaint with this time of year is the fact that whenever I walk into big box stores, I see Halloween costumes, Thanksgiving decorations and Christmas trees. Yep. And we haven’t even reached Halloween yet. I call it Hallothanksmas. At the chamber, we’d rather take it one event at a time.
So, let’s talk October in chamber-land. We have plenty to look forward to in October. Our first event is the Chamber’s Fall Expo on Thursday, Oct. 3, from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the Community Hall on S. Pebble Beach Blvd. Come on out to meet our local business owners and cash in on free stuff. This is the event that lets residents and business owners meet and talk one-on-one in a fun atmosphere. For more details on our special quests, take a look at Lois Kindle’s story on page 1.
Tuesday, Oct. 8, at 8 a.m. is our member morning coffee. We’re taking a road trip – sort of. We’re going next door to the chamber to the Lake Michigan Credit Union. Fran Fabbro and her crew will show you what’s been going on since their change to LMCU.
The chamber monthly lunch is hosted by Well Med Medical Group Thursday, Oct. 17, from 11:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. This is open to members and non-members alike. Our lunches are always networking and fun driven, and, of course, there’s always great food. We’re taking reservations now.
Rounding out the month is another member only event – our Business after Hours on Oct. 24 from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m . We’ll be headed to Latitudes Apollo Restaurant at 131 Harbor Village Lane in Apollo Beach. As they say at Latitudes, bring your attitude to Latitudes. Everyone except you, Hal Jeffery.
I cannot fix this darned heat. I cannot eradicate Hallothanksmas. But I can promise you a great month of chamber events in October. Please stop in and see us whenever you can.
