New urgent care opens at Wimauma/Sun City Center border

Residents of Sun City Center and surrounding communities have long awaited the opening of their own walk-in clinic, and now they have one.
Tampa General Hospital and Fast Track Urgent Care have partnered to open a TGH Urgent Care, powered by Fast Track at the TGH Diagnostic Center, 16521 U.S. 301 S, (just west of Walmart) Wimauma. The urgent care will share the 10,000-square-foot building with the diagnostic center and Tower Radiology.
It will be staffed by two receptionists, a medical assistant, a medical doctor, physician’s assistant and/or registered nurse practitioner, said Fast Track’s Chief Medical Officer Dr. Paul Nanda.
“It’s our first in the Sun City Center area and the tenth in the Tampa-St. Petersburg area,” he said.
The two closest sites are in Riverview and Brandon.
“We had wanted to open an urgent care in Sun City Center for some time, and this partnership gave us the opportunity to do so without having to build from the ground up,” Nanda said. “We provide world-class care from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m. seven days a week.”
The facility, which opened Sept. 1, offers efficient, high-quality urgent care in a patient-friendly environment. Patients ages 3 months and older with coughs or the flu, broken bones, cuts or sprains, minor burns, urinary tract infections and the like can be seen and treated during hours that are convenient to their schedules, making emergency room visits the exception, not the norm.
Procedures and tests can include suturing; abscess drainage; X-rays and EKGs, vaccinations, tests for pregnancy, mono and the flu, lab draws, breathing treatment and much more. The urgent care features five exam rooms, an x-ray technician, ultrasound, nebulizers and more. Bloodwork can be done on site. In addition to general parking, golf cart parking and one charger are available.
“Seventy-one percent of ER visits can be handled by an urgent care,” Nanda said. “Our goal is to treat people like family and provide the best care possible in a cost-effective manner.” He added that their plan is to have patients treated and discharged within one hour.
Most major insurance plans are accepted. For folks who are out-of-network or have no medical insurance, discounted self-pay pricing is offered at the time of service, with flexible payment options.
The facility also handles school and sports physicals, medical clearances for auto accidents and occupational health services for employers.
TGH Urgent Care, powered by Fast Track, is Tampa Bay’s largest physician-owned urgent care.
