Chamber News & Views
If we were up north, we’d soon be enjoying fall. But then again, when you are up north, you get all the regular seasons: spring, summer, fall and winter. But seeing as we are not up north, we have different seasons. Florida’s seasons include Hurricane Season, Love Bug Season and Snowbird Season. We do have a couple days of “cold” weather each year, but it’s such a short period of time, it doesn’t even deserve its own name.
While you won’t see any signs of fall, you will be seeing plenty of activity at the chamber. Our September is jammed packed with events, as always. We’re starting off with The Exchange Extra on Sept. 4 from 11:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the chamber. Our guest speaker will be Desi Ferreira from The Observer News. Non-members are welcome for two free visits.
Our monthly coffee is Sept. 10 at the chamber. Our host will be Bob Billa, SHJ Plumbing. Members should stop by before work for some coffee and networking.
Our monthly lunch takes place on September 19 at the chamber. Our host is Cheryl DeLeon of D&L Insurance. Our guest speaker is Ty Tison who is running for Hillsborough County judge. Members and non-members are welcome. But non-members, we’re going to charge you a little bit extra for your awesome lunch from Smokeez BBQ.
And on Sept. 27, we’re taking a road trip to Caloosa Golf and Country Club for our Business After Hours from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. Members need to stop in on their way home for drinks, snacks and a peek inside.
And be sure to mark your calendars for the chamber’s Fall Business Expo on Thursday, Oct. 3. It’s one-of-two chances per year when our member businesses get to meet Sun City Center residents one-on-one. And residents, don’t forget — it’s a great chance to stock up on some goodies and enter to win some awesome prizes. We hope to see you from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. at Community Hall.
So, no fall, but we’re getting ready for our second Love Bug Season. Oh, boy. I just try to keep remembering I can decorate the outside of my house for the holidays in shorts and flip flops. Keep the faith!
