This year’s SCC Mini-Relay for Life brings in thousands
The Sun City Center Mini-Relay for Life took place April 11 on the grounds of Freedom Plaza’s Golfview Terrace. Through sponsorships and donations, this year’s fundraiser brought in $9,600, all of which will go directly to the American Cancer Society. The money will help fund cancer research, patient programs and continuing cancer prevention education.
The event included 28 vendors and three tables of families and friends. The “Dream Team,” led by Sun City Center resident Joanne Cyr, a survivor of five different forms of cancer, raised $644, and Freedom Plaza was the event’s top corporate team with its donation of $3,200.
Local entertainer Thor Stevens provided entertainment, and Hal Jeffery kept things moving as emcee.
