The stars were aligned March 16 for FunFest in Sun City Center, a community event held annually on the Community Association’s Central Campus since 1990. The expected rain came and went before the opening ceremony at 9 a.m., and the overcast day was comfortable for an estimated 800 to 1,000 visitors browsing the club and vendor exhibits, enjoying the food offerings and continuous entertainment.
FunFest, sponsored by the SCC Community Association, gives CA clubs an opportunity to boost their groups’ coffers. Dave Birkett, who chaired the 2019 FunFest Committee, said this year they had a record number of exhibitors and food vendors, and comments have been overwhelmingly positive. “We are already planning for next year,” he said.

At the Health Fair, visitors were offered healthcare information and free tests. Mobile units outside were conducting eye exams (The Eye Associates) and made it convenient to give blood (One Blood).

Model Railroad club members were thrilled to have so much interest by visitors of all ages.

Shellcrafters club members’ creativity was displayed in hundreds of their offered products.

Demonstrations like this one in the Stained Glass Club room during last weekend’s FunFest gave visitors an insight into activities for those living in Sun City Center.
