Palmetto Heritage Festival
On Saturday, March 9, from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m., Palmetto will celebrate its history at their Heritage Festival at Palmetto Historical Park & Manatee County Agricultural Museum, 515 10th Ave. W., Palmetto. This free event will feature a park open house, musical entertainment at 10:15 a.m. by Rowlett Academy for Arts & Communication, hands-on activities for all ages, and their special exhibit: East and West Art Exhibition featuring artwork from Parrish Arts Council and Artists’ Guild of Anna Maria Island.
The Palmetto High School Future Farmers of America (FFA) will have small animals in the corral. The 1880 Post Office will be open for business featuring a 2019 cancellation designed by Parrish Arts Council member Barbara H. Hart. Take your mail to be posted. Guided tours of the park buildings will take place at 11 a.m., noon and 1 p.m.
Word of Mouth BBQ and Kona Ice will be food vendors on hand and Alex’s Lemonade Stand will be raising funds to benefit childhood cancer research. The Woman’s Club of Palmetto will be holding their annual chicken and yellow rice luncheon for $12 and various Palmetto High School reunions will take place during the luncheon held at Woman’s Club of Palmetto at 910 6th St. W., Palmetto.
