Wendy L. Burke-Burkhard
Wendy Lyn Burkhard, 68, of Rockford Ill., passed away on March 4th, 2018. Born January 23rd, 1950, in Chicago, Ill., daughter of Ralph and Elizabeth (Betty) Burke. She was raised in Oak Park, Ill. Wendy received her College Degree in Education from Elmhurst College and her Master’s Degree in Social Work from Loyola University. Wendy owned her own Social Services company called
WyndBeach Counseling. Wendy was extremely passionate about life and cherished the relationships and friendships that she forged over the years. Her entire career was dedicated in servitude to others.
She is preceded in death by her parents. She is survived by husband Gordon (Gordy) Barron of Rockford, Ill.; her son, Alan Burkhard; daughter-in-law, Barb Burkhard; grandson Steven; granddaughter Gwendolyne; granddaughter Claudia; brother Keith Konen; brother Kevin Konen; brother Scott Konen; brother Jerry Konen; and brother, Bruce Konen; along with many lifelong friends.
Memorials can be made to United Methodist Church, 5973 Darlene Drive, Rockford, IL 61107. Wendy’s final resting place will be in Fond Du Lac, Wis.
Ruth G. Klier
Ruth G. Klier, age 98, of Sun City Center, Fla., formerly of Rochester, N.Y., passed away peacefully on Saturday, January 20, 2018, with her daughter at her side. She was born in Rochester, N.Y. on December 18, 1919, a daughter of Walter A. Guyett and Mable M. (Coakley) Guyett. She married the love of her life, Lyle C. Klier, on July 21, 1941.
Ruth is survived by her children, Cheryl (Gerald) Karpinski of Tully, N.Y. and Patrick (Mary) Klier of Neshkoro, Wis.; five grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; sister-in-law Dorothy (Klier) Ward, and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband of 59 years, Lyle C. Klier; her parents Walter and Mabel (Coakley) Guyett; sister Eileen Evershed; and niece Gail Scott.
Many thanks to Ruth’s caregivers and nurses at Aston Gardens and especially at Cypress Creek Assisted Living, who made Ruth feel so special in her declining days.
There will be a Memorial Mass to celebrate her life, including over 38 years in SCC, on Friday, March 16 at 11 a.m. at Prince of Peace Catholic Church, 702 Valley Forge Blvd., Sun City Center, FL 33573.
Donald Gene Lowrey
Donald Gene Lowrey, 69, passed away Monday, March 12, in Brandon.
He was born in Highlands City, Fla., and was a lifelong resident of Gibsonton where he worked in the tropical fish industry.
He is survived by a daughter, Ivy Peterson; one grandson, Michael Peterson; two sisters, Martha Simmons and Vonda (Harry) Cunningham; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Services will be held at Simmons Loop Baptist Church, 6610 Simmons Loop, Riverview, FL 33578, on Saturday, March 17, at 5 p.m.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Simmons Loop Baptist Church in Donald’s name.
Marcus L. Tidwell
Marcus LaVoy Tidwell, 90, passed away March 4, 2018. He was born Sept. 19, 1927, in Bushnell, Fla. Marcus retired from the United States Air Force as Master Sergeant after 20 years of service. Following his military service, Marcus retired from the United States Postal Service after 20 years.
He was preceded in death by his wife Dora in 2007. He is survived by his brother and sister-in-law, U.D. “Bud” Tidwell Jr. and his wife Terri of Sun City Center, Fla.; his sister Florence Clawson of Chambersburg, Pa.; and two stepchildren, Ron Parish and his wife Susan of Mount Dora, Fla. and Connie Morrison of Melbourne, Fla.; and many nieces and nephews.
Services with Military Honors were held at Sun City Center Funeral Home. Interment Florida National Cemetery, Bushnell, Fla. Arrangements by Sun City Center Funeral Home 813-634-9900.
