Residents are invited to give their input into a proposal to create a waterfront park along the Alafia River.
The 28-acre park would include a fishing dock, trails, picnic shelters, parking, and restrooms. Hillsborough County recently approved a contract to purchase the land from Mosaic Fertilizer for $2 million, 25 percent below its appraised value.
The proposed park is on the south side of the Alafia, about a mile east of Interstate 75. Construction is estimated to begin within two years.
An open house to receive public input will be held at 6:30 p.m. on Thursday, Nov. 2, at Riverview Civic Center, 11020 Park Drive.
