Seven weeks and counting until the Sun City Center Golf Cart Parade on Dec. 9—plenty of time for imaginations to soar. The theme — Holiday Movie Madness and Memories — presents a myriad of decoration possibilities.
Parade Committee Chairman Howie Griffin said that they wanted something new that would challenge the creativity of participants. After all, SCC is a community of seniors. That means lots of memories are tucked away about movies enjoyed over the years. So what comes to mind for you? Polar Express? White Christmas?
Participants will be vying for $2,000 in prizes from Minto Communities for decorated carts. Categories and awards are: Individuals—six awards totaling $1,150; Groups—three awards totaling $600; Businesses—trophy (no cash award). Also, each decorated cart will be eligible for cash prize raffles (two for $75; two for $50) simply for starting and finishing the parade. Winners of the “decorated cart” awards are not eligible for raffle prizes.
And there’s another big prize to be awarded that day—the Precedent Club Car now being displayed on the SCC Security Patrol lawn at 1225 N. Pebble Beach Blvd. Raffle tickets are $5 each or five for $20 and are available at the patrol office weekdays 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. Call the patrol at 813-242-2020 for more information.
Registration forms are now available at the SCC Community Association office and Atrium ticket kiosk off North Course Lane in SCC, and at both the Kings Point North and South clubs. They are also available on the CA website (www.suncitycenter.org) and will be available at the “Hi Neighbor” event on Nov. 2 at the Community Hall. Entries must be returned to the CA office by Dec. 4. Entrants are accepted on parade day but preregistration is certainly recommended.
