CA planning July 4 festivities

The SCC Community Association Independence Day pancake breakfast will be headed this year by Bob and Pat Sullivan and Linda Oddo. Joanne and Sam Sudman are relinquishing the helm after five years of organizing the event.
This open-to-the-public breakfast at Community Hall, 1910 S. Pebble Beach Blvd., typically attracts about 1,000 residents and guests who enjoy starting the July 4 holiday with friends and family. The $5 breakfast includes pancakes, sausage, eggs, toast, juice and coffee.
The trio of organizers sends kudos to all the area residents who have helped in the past to make the event successful and are now seeking support for this year. “We need about 130 workers to cook, serve, bus, clean up, etc,” said Bob Sullivan. Volunteers can work one of two shifts, 7 to 9:30 a.m. or 9 to 11:30 a.m. To volunteer, e-mail rssuncitycenter@gmail.com.
Last year, the community association sponsored its first July 4 “Family Day” festivities for CA members and guests on the Central Campus, N. Pebble Beach Blvd. Community Association Entertainment Director Lynn Manzi said there will be a similar holiday celebration on the campus this year from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m., and preparations are well underway.
