The Faith Community committee organizing the Day of Cabaret is excited about the performers they have assembled for an April 30 show at the SCC Community Hall, 1910 S. Pebble Beach Blvd. Not only will attendees enjoy an afternoon of entertainment, they will have the opportunity to take home prizes. The huge array of donations from local organizations and businesses demonstrates strong community support for this worthwhile fundraiser to benefit four local food banks. Doors open at 1 p.m.; the show starts at 2.
The committee, led by Diane Blenke, is optimistic about ticket sales this year matching last year’s sellout. The last day for purchasing advance tickets ($10) at the Community Association atrium kiosk is Friday, April 28, 9 a.m. to noon. They will, however, be available at each of the nine sponsoring congregations (below) until show day. If tickets are still available, they will be sold at the door for $12. Attendees are being asked to bring donations of food items that will be divided among the food bank recipients along with the show’s proceeds.
Performers for this year’s show are Gary Garbelman, Bill Lindsey (aka Elvis), Troy Coman, Micki & Glenn Groper and Hilde Klein, Ed Brown and Jeanne Nash (aka George Burns and Gracie Allen), John Cortese and the Front Porch Pickers. Gary Mull is serving as emcee.
Faith Community congregations: Beth Israel Jewish Congregation, Prince of Peace Catholic Church, Redeemer Lutheran Church, St. Andrew Presbyterian Church, St. John the Divine Church, Unitarian Universalist Fellowship, United Methodist Church of SCC, South Shore United Church of Christ and Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church.
Food bank recipients: Calvary’s Angel Attic, The Lord’s Lighthouse, Beth-El Food Pantry and Guadalupe Food Pantry.
