Suitable for preschool age children 5 and under
This is the chance for your preschooler to learn about the properties of water and explore the shoreline. They will learn that saltwater fish drink water, about animals that live on the shore and what they eat. They will have the opportunity to see them up close when they go dip-netting.

Green Explorers: Whimsical Wildflowers • Wednesday, April 26, 10 a.m. to noon
Suitable for ages 6 through 12; all ages are welcome
Flowers are always in bloom in Florida. Go to this event to explore their beauty, color, and shapes of all our wonderful wildflowers. Using hands-on discovery, attendees will have a chance to play in nature. Green Explorers is a low-structure, highly social and experience-based activity.

Wild Florida 101: Edible Plants of Spring • Wednesday, April 26, 10 a.m. to noon
Suitable for ages 13 and older
This is your chance to experience an array of wild delicacies to tantalize your taste buds and learn about nature’s bounty with a short hike to explore various native plants and their uses. You will then sample dishes made with a variety of native ingredients.

Tall Tails Tribe: Float Like a Feather, Sink Like a Stone • Friday, April 28, 10 to 11 a.m.
Suitable for preschool age children 5 and under
Some objects float on the water, some drop to the bottom of a stream and some can do both. Bring your toddler to a morning of hands-on exploration into buoyancy. Discover how objects react differently in salt and freshwater. Finish the program by making their very own boat.

Take Stock in Children launches company, announces summer camp programs
Take Stock in Children of Manatee County, Inc., a nonprofit, has been providing one-on-one mentors, college scholarships and hope for qualifying youth who could not otherwise afford post-secondary education.
Now they have launched a new business that will offer summer camp programs for youth from grades four through 12. Creativity Camps, LLC, a for-profit organization solely owned by Take Stock, will use its revenues from Creativity Camps to further fund Take Stock’s mission.

• Graphic Novel Creation
• Clay Studio Visual Arts Design
• Songwriter Workshop
• Superhero Training
• Mad Scientist Laboratory
• Technology Playground
The Technology Playground will be facilitated by Manatee County Teacher of the Year Nick Leduc.
They are using content developed at such institutions as Rice University and the Stanford Design School.
Diana Hill, the executive director of Creativity Camps, said, “Our programs will let students get their hands dirty, and we are also planning field trips to extend their learning into real world situations.”

Ellenton Ice hosting Summer Ice Skating Day Camp
Ellenton Ice is hosting four weeks of day camp with the options of doing day “drop-in” or “a la carte.”
The Figure Skating Beginner Camp is for skaters just starting out through Freestyle 6 level. The camp teaches essential skills to help kids enjoy the sport of figure skating to their full potential while having fun.
