FunFest has it all — entertainment, food, vendors, health fair
By PHYLLIS HODGES
Plan to join the crowd on Saturday, March 18, to experience several hours of lively FunFest activities on the Sun City Center Community Association Central Campus, 1009 N. Pebble Beach Blvd. The fun starts at 9 a.m. with a warm welcome by CA President John Luper and continues until 2 p.m. This annual event is free and open to the public
Throughout the campus, the CA clubs will be dispensing information and offering creations to browse or buy, and civic/business organizations will be exhibiting their wares and services. That includes healthcare providers, so don’t miss the Health Fair inside the Atrium. Out in the courtyard area, the variety of delicacies sold by the clubs is sure to satisfy any appetite.
For hassle-free parking, visitors can choose to park at the CA South Campus, 1910 S. Pebble Beach, and ride shuttles that will be running during the duration of the festivities.
The campus will be bustling with entertainment for the entire five hours.
In the Main Tent, entertainment features area performers returning by popular demand: The Dukes (9:15 a.m. and 12:15 p.m.), Elvis (10:15 a.m. and 1:15 p.m.), and Kevin Brooks (11:20 a.m.)
Sun City Center groups will be entertaining in the Rollins Theater: the SCC Men’s Chorus (10 a.m.), Gals & Guys Productions (11 a.m.), and Par For The Chorus (noon).
In the Florida Room various dance club members will perform throughout the morning: the SCC Line Dancers (9:15 a.m.), Solo Line Dancers (9:50 a.m.), SCC Cloggers (10:30 a.m.), Academy of Ballroom Dance (11 a.m.) and Sunsations (11:30 a.m.). At 12:30 p.m., the always-popular Wonders of Nature show will again fascinate visitors with the antics of its birds and animals.
Clubs will also be demonstrating in the Dance Studio: Tai Chi (9 a.m.), Timesteppers (10 a.m.), Jazzmatazz (11:30 a.m.) and Latin Fitness (12:30 p.m.)
The outside swimming pool will be rocking with the Front Porch Pickers (10:45 a.m. and noon). The Swim Dancers will perform at the inside pool (noon).
Elmira’s Wildlife and Hillsborough County Pet Resource Center and their animal exhibits will be at the Arts & Crafts Building from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m.
The first CA FunFest was in 1990; it was started as an opportunity to display community spirit while providing an opportunity for clubs to raise operational funds. Don’t miss the March 16 issue of the SCC Observer News. It will include a removable section that includes the full FunFest schedule and more information about the event.
