Anne Marie Arico
Anne Marie Arico, of Ruskin, Florida passed away peacefully surrounded by her loving family at home on September 25, 2016.
Anne Marie was born in New Brunswick, N.J. on April 2, 1956, and lived in North Brunswick, N.J. until 1999 when she relocated to the SouthShore area.
For the past 20 years, Anne Marie was Vice President of the Wachovia Bank in Sun City Center and most recently Vice President of Fifth Third Bank in Ruskin, Florida. Her community service included involvement with the SouthShore and Sun City Center chambers of commerce as well as the Secretary–Treasurer of the Sun City Center BNI. In addition to her many wonderful attributes, Anne Marie’s compassionate nature, particularly her concern for the elderly, will be missed.
She was preceded in death by her father, Anthony Arico, Sr. Anne Marie is survived by her devoted and loving husband, Arthur DeAngelis, of Design One Garage Doors, and her two daughters, Dina (Matthew) Fleming of Milltown, N.J. and Christine (Brian) Thornton of East Windsor, N.J. Anne Marie was fortunate enough to belong to a very large and loving family including her mother, Carmela Arico as well as eight brothers and sisters including Mary Antoinette (James) Denaster, Nicholas (Kathy) Arico, Anthony (Heike) Arico Jr., Theresa (Michael) Goodhart, Bernadette Mitchko, Joseph (Andrea) Arico, John (Anna) Arico, and Joanne Arico. Four grandchildren, Travis Wesen, Cassius and Sage Fleming, and Hunter Thornton will miss their grandmother’s presence immensely.
A brief private service was held in fond remembrance of Anne Marie’s life. “I carry your heart with me (I carry it in my heart) I am never without it; anywhere I go you go, my dear.”

Jean Shira Bailey
Jean Shira Bailey, 92, formerly of Sandusky, Ohio, passed away Saturday morning, September 24, 2016, in the Arden Courts in Tampa, Florida following a lengthy illness.
She was born January 9, 1924, in Guttenburg, Iowa to her parents, Ruby and Creatis Shira. Jean graduated from Willard High School in 1941. On May 30, 1945, she married Clayton Bailey, to whom she was married for 57 years. Jean was a 1959 graduate of Bowling Green State University with a Bachelor of Science Degree in Elementary Education. She taught in the Sandusky Public School system for 26 years. While teaching, she was recognized as a 1971 Jennings Scholar. Upon her retirement, she and Clayton moved to Sun City Center, Florida.
While residing in Sandusky, she was an active member of Zion Lutheran Church and was involved in many civic organizations. After moving to Sun City Center, Florida, Jean continued these commitments at Redeemer Lutheran Church and continued to participate in various civic groups. Jean was recognized in 2007 for 25 years of outstanding service in the Sun City Center Woman’s Club.
She is survived by two daughters, Brenda Gerding of Lutz, Florida and Beverly (Paul) Bouman of Celeryville, Ohio; two sons, Michael (Hope) Bailey of Huron, Ohio and John (Niki) Bailey of Palmetto, Florida; 11 grandchildren, one brother, Rev. Creatis G. Shira of Charlotteville, Virginia and numerous great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Clayton Bruce Bailey; her parents, Creatis and Ruby (Froelich) Shira.
Services were held at Zion Lutheran Church, 503 Columbus Ave., Sandusky, Ohio 44870. Family interment services were in Greenwood Cemetery in Willard, Ohio, with Jean’s grandson, Rev. Clayton Bailey officiating.

Shirley L. Crist
Shirley Leota Fagan Kruse Crist was born in Akron, Ohio, on January 15, 1919, to George Brandt Fagan and Inez Pearl Strickland. She passed away September 23, 2016, in Tucson, Ariz. Interment will be at the Northlawn Memorial Gardens, Peninsula, Ohio.
Shirley owned her own interior decorating company for over 24 years, which went hand in hand with her passion for art.
Shirley started teaching art in Ohio, then St. Petersburg, then Florida Keys and finally in Sun City Center, Florida. She was commissioned in 1986 by the 187th Army Airborne Museum in Nashville, Tenn., to paint four oil portraits of Medal of Honor recipients, which are exhibited in the museum.
She was predeceased in death by her parents, her brother Clyde B. Fagan, her sister Alice A. Lockhart and her husband Carl E. Kruse. Surviving are her two children; Roberta J. Harmon of Tucson, Arizona and Ronald B. Kruse of Concord, North Carolina. Also still living are several grandchildren and great-grandchildren. A special thank you to the caregivers of Pacifica who gave her such loving care.

Evelyn M. Dimel
Evelyn M. “Eve” (Corbin) Dimel, 89, of Grove City, passed away on Saturday, September 24, 2016, at Mount Caramel East Hospital in Columbus. She was born on February 23, 1927, in Columbus, Ohio, daughter of the late Charles E. and Beatrice M. (Watring) Corbin.
Eve was a devout Catholic, raised in the Holy Family Parish. She was a 1946 graduate of Holy Family High School. Eve enjoyed performing arts, dancing, music and traveling. For the past 17 years, Eve lived a very active life in Florida. She was a very social, outgoing, loving and kind-hearted individual.
She is survived by her loving family: son, Gary (Meg) Dimel; daughter, Connie Dimel-Moore; seven grandchildren: Rich (Jill), Shawn (Amanda), Joe (Jessica) Dimel, Clarissa (Jeremy) Reis, Jennifer (Ted) Dickerson, Christopher Moore, and Stefan Wedor; 13 great-grandchildren; sister-in-law, Anna Corbin; as well as nieces and nephews, cousins and friends.
In addition to her parents, Eve was preceded in death by her husband, Richard F. Dimel, in 1988; brother, Charles “Chod” Corbin; and a son-in-law, Charles R. Moore.
A Mass of Christian Burial celebrating Eve’s life was on Friday, September 30, 2016, at 10:30 a.m. at Holy Family Roman Catholic Church, 584 W. Broad St., Columbus, with Father Stash L. Dailey as Celebrant. Burial was at the convenience of the family in St. Joseph’s Cemetery, Lockbourne.
The family received friends at the Schoedinger Grove City Chapel, 3920 Broadway St., Grove City, on Thursday, September 29, 2016, from 5 to 8 p.m. where a prayer vigil service was held at 7:30 p.m. with Deacon Earl McCurry presiding.

Vernon George Milam
Vernon George Milam, 93 years old, devoted husband, passed away peacefully on September 14, in his Naples, Florida home.
He is survived by his wife of 65 years, Caroline Brown Milam of Staten Island, N.Y., and by three daughters: Karen Rumolo (Michael Rumolo), Ann Milam (Brad Hill), and Lynn Schaefer (Wayne Schaefer). Also mourning his passing are grandchildren: Kristen Mullane (John Mullane), Steven Rumolo, Matthew Rumolo, and Kelly Schaefer, and great-grandson John Michael Mullane.
Vern was born in Manhattan, N.Y., and raised in Queens, N.Y. He served in the U.S. Navy during World War II from 1942 to October 1945, stationed first on a destroyer in the Atlantic, and later on the Essex aircraft carrier in the Pacific.
He married Caroline Brown in 1951 and raised their family in Staten Island, N.Y. Vern was an amateur carpenter, with an eye for perfection, and made many renovations in his home. Later, Vern and his family moved to Cherry Hill, N.J. and Medford, N.J. For most of his adult life, Vern worked at Texaco’s New York office and finished his career as account analyst of Texaco’s Philadelphia office. Following retirement, he and Caroline relocated to Sun City Center, Florida, in 1984. One year ago, they moved to Naples, Florida.
Vern was a devout Episcopalian and active in his churches, and was always eager to serve. He was Senior Warden and served on the Vestry at the Church of the Ascension on Staten Island, N.Y., chairman of the church bazaar, and built a cabinet to house the new organ pipes. He was also on the Vestry at St. John the Divine Episcopal Church in Sun City Center, Florida, and a leading member of the Building Committee for a new church building.
When living in Sun City Center, Vern volunteered with the local rescue squad and Meals on Wheels. He always had a special connection with dogs and volunteered with a guide dog organization. When he wasn’t helping others, Vern could frequently be found on the golf course.
Vern was an avid Yankees fan of the Ruth-Gehrig Bronx Bombers. He was in Yankee Stadium as a boy to see Lou Gehrig’s famous farewell speech on July 4, 1939.
Vern’s family always came first. He will be deeply missed by family and those who knew him.
A Memorial Service will be held on Saturday, Oct. 8, at 2 p.m. at St. John the Divine Episcopal Church, 1015 Del Webb Blvd., E., Sun City Center, FL 33573.

Roger Vincent Palazzo
Roger Vincent Palazzo, 93, of Sun City Center died peacefully on September 30, 2016. He was born on April 3, 1923, in Corona, N.Y. to Aleo and Elizabeth (Asterino) Palazzo.
He was a graduate of Newton High School. In 1942 he joined the U.S. Army and served during World War II. His career included working as a machinist at R. Hoe and Company in the Bronx. After he retired and moved to Florida in 1978, he worked for the U.S. Postal Service of Sun City Center. In his leisure time, he was an avid golfer, belonged to the Ruskin Elks Lodge #2672, and was a volunteer fire fighter for the Sun City Center Fire Department.
On June 5, 1943, he married the love of his life, Anna Marino in Corona, N.Y. She preceded him in death in March 1995. He is survived by two sons, Roger (Ellen) of Rockville Centre, N.Y. and William (Yaeko) of Poughkeepsie, N.Y.; three daughters, Elizabeth Peyton (Robert) of Sun City Center, Fla., Roberta McKay (Beth) of Eureka, Calif. and Anna Brett (Kenneth) of Kingston, N.Y.; eight grandchildren, two great-grandchildren and his dear friend, Barbara Warner of Sun City Center, Fla.
A Celebration Mass was held Oct. 4, at Prince of Peace Church, Sun City Center, Fla. Memorial Contributions may be made to the charity of your choice.

Isabelle Smith
Isabelle McFedries Smith, age 95, passed peacefully, surrounded by family, on Sunday, September 25, 2016, at Halifax Health Hospice in Orange City, Fla.
Isabelle was born September 5, 1921, in Glasgow, Scotland to Elizabeth and Robert McFedries. The family immigrated to the United States and settled in Chicago when she was 3 years old.
She married Walter R. Smith in June 1945. They lived in Chicago for 15 years until Walter was transferred to Connecticut. They returned to the Chicago area in 1965. In 1981 they retired to Sun City Center, Fla., where Isabelle lived for 35 years. She relocated to Deland, Fla., in March of this year to be closer her children.
Isabelle and Walter traveled the world extensively and they loved the theatre. In addition, she was an avid bridge player and a skilled seamstress.
She was predeceased by her husband in 2003.
Isabelle is survived by her brother Robert McFedries Jr. of Ft. Myers, Fla., her son Bruce (Peggy) Smith of Palm Coast, Fla., her daughter Deborah (Robert) Spereno of Crescent City, Fla., her grandson Brent (Lisa) Smith and two great-grandsons of Edgewater, Md.
No services will be held. Isabelle will be laid to rest with her husband Water at Florida National cemetery in Bushnell, Fla.
