Marie Zaieck
Marie Zaieck, 92, of Sun City Center, Fla., passed away April 25, 2016, at Houston Memorial Hermann Hospital while visiting her daughters. She was preceded in death by Frank, her husband of 53 years, in 1998.
A native of Evansville, Ind., she was active in many community organizations. She was Worthy Matron of Eastern Star, Queen of the Daughters of the Nile and President of the Evansville Junior Chamber of Commerce Wives organization.
She and her husband retired to Sun City Center more than 30 years ago and became very active in the Gadabouts Travel Club. They acted as President and Vice President for 14 years, planning new adventures for hundreds of members in the club.
Marie was beautiful, intelligent and independent until her death. She loved music, dancing, singing, cruising and travel. As one of her great-grandchildren commented, “She was equal parts of class and sass,” and was dearly loved by her whole extended family.
She is survived by three daughters: Suzanne (Ed) Paxton, Lexington, Ky.; Monzelle (Ken) Allen, Pearland, Texas; and Rebecca (Ben) Bays, Onalaska, Texas. She also leaves behind grandchildren Amy (Mark) Mellinger, Blake (Kalen) Paxton, Ashley (Nathan) Lynn, Vanessa (John) Burgess, Rita Dean and Travis Allen; and seven great-grandchildren, Blake II, Paige, Hadley, Greyson, Matthew, Alexis and Rebecca.
A family celebration of life was held in Houston, Texas, and interment will be in Evansville, Indiana.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Sun City Center United Methodist Church Choir.
