Francis John Swistara, 63 years old, passed away December 25, 2015, after a long battle with Multiple Sclerosis.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Francis Richard Swistara and Hazel Etta Willard.

He is survived by his loving wife of 13 years, Thea Bowman Swistara; sister Dawn (Rob) Ladd; stepdaughter Danielle (Adam); grandchildren Arya and Jaxson; niece Tracie (JC); and nephew Jason (Lindsay).

Frank was born in Mineola, N.Y. He moved to Ruskin at 18 years of age. After 25 years of employment with Hillsborough County Water Department, he retired in 2008.

Frank enjoyed golfing, fishing, cooking, listening and dancing to Polka music. He loved taking vacations with Thea and Arya to the mountains, where he enjoyed watching the excitement on Arya’s face when she saw the mountains or found a gem while mining.

Once Jaxson (grandson) arrived, there was a twinkle in his eye, and he had big plans for all the adventures they would have.

When he was confined to bed, his new hobbies became tea parties and Barbie doll dress-up with granddaughter Arya, who was his pride and joy.

He was a member of the Ruskin Moose Lodge, Ruskin Eagles Aerie and the American Polka Society.

A Celebration of Frank’s life was held January 3 at Ruskin Eagles Aerie.
