With each passing week, with each new event, the Firehouse Cultural Center becomes even more the hub of arts, entertainment and culture in the greater South Hillsborough Community. On Saturday, the cultural center held a fundraiser Blues and BBQ event to raise money to ensure the continuation of its quality programming. At least 200 people turned out for an afternoon of live music and “fresh off the smoker” BBQ, catered by the locally popular Dog House and More eatery.
Coming up at the Firehouse is the Firehouse Pub, beginning at 7:30 p.m. on Friday, Oct. 23. The event includes a live comedy show. Advanced tickets are $15 for members, $18 for nonmembers. Day-of-the-show tickets are $20 for members and $25 for nonmembers.
In addition to an array of classes, Tampa-born, New York City-based artist Josette Urso will be the Artist in Residence from Nov. 16-21. For information on more happenings, or to become a member, visit www.firehouseculturalcenter.org or call 813-645-7651.
