David William Conway
David William Conway, DVM., 95, of Sun City Center, Fla., passed away July 28, 2015.
Before retiring, he owned and operated Conway Animal Hospital in Southgate, Mich. David served in the U.S. Navy during World War II as a bomber pilot and served in the North Pacific theater.
David was preceded in death by daughter Elizabeth McPhail. He is survived by wife Portia; son William; five grandchildren; and one great-granddaughter.
Burial will take place at Michigan Memorial Park, Flat Rock, Mich.

James “Jim” Edwin Harford
James “Jim” Edwin Harford of Sun City Center, Fla., passed away July 31, 2015, with his three children by his side. He was born September 28, 1925, in West Virginia to Everett and Teresa Bryant Harford. He was preceded in death by his parents and his loving wife of 59 years, Onor Neil Harford.
He is survived by children Joe (Esther) Harford, Michael (Melodie) Harford and Terry (Bruce) Roese; grandchildren Amy (Phil) Peters, Leah (Adam) Braun, Maggie (Andy) Haines, Emily Roese, Everett Harford, Harmony (Todd) Bailey and Trevor Post; great-grandchildren Logan Duffy, Jordan Duffy, Michael Haines, Avery Peters, Calvin Braun and Rhys Bailey; niece and nephew Carolyn (Joe) Burton and Jim (Desi) Keenan; sister-in-law Beulah Brown; and special friends Caroline Cole, Gene and Sandy Bolger, Ron and Kim Boyette, Bob Brooks, Helen Engel, Frank and Peg Hein, and Ron and Ola May Roop.
Jim graduated from Mark Twain High School in Stotesbury, W. Va., where he was the drum major of the marching band. He attended the University of Concord after serving in the U.S. Navy. Jim was a proud Navy man, having served on the USS Thomas (DE 102) during World War II. He enjoyed traveling to and organizing his many Navy reunions.
Jim was a salesman of Amana products for Birch Distributors of South Point/Ashland for many years. And what a salesman he was! He continued using his selling talents in Sun City Center working for Anne’s Estate Sales with his good buddy, Gil Bennett.
Jim was proud of his family, proud to be a Navy man, and definitely proud to be from West Virginia. He was a West Virginia Mountaineer through and through.
Jim never knew a stranger. He was always there to lend a helping hand to family and friends. His friends became his family. We will miss his wit, his humor and his love of life. Jim was a blessing to those whose lives he touched. He will live on in our memories as a kind and loving husband, father, grandfather, uncle and friend.

Cynthia Jean Morgan Horstmann
Cynthia Jean Morgan Horstmann, age 68, of Sun City Center, Fla., succumbed to cancer at Hospice House in Sun City Center on Thursday, July 16, 2015. Family members were at her side when she went home.
Cynthia was born on September 10, 1946, in North Adams, Mass., to John and Daisy Morgan. During the course of her life, she made her home in Newtown, Conn.; Ballston Lake, N.Y.; and Fredericksburg, Va., before retiring to Sun City Center in 2005. She was a stay-at-home mom during both sons’ formative years, afterward becoming a retail bookstore manager.
She was later co-owner/manager with her husband in their Crabtree & Evelyn and Le Chocolatier retail stores in the Albany, N.Y., area. She loved reading, cooking, the beach and all things British, as well as her beloved dog, Muffin.
Survivors include her husband of 49 years, Glenn; sons Joshua Horstmann (Christi) of Jacksonville, Fla., and Nathan Horstmann (Jennifer), of Roanoke, Va.; and grandchildren Emily Horstmann, Jacob Ball, Simeon Horstmann and Silas Horstmann.
A celebration of life memorial service will be held Saturday, August 15, 2015, at 10 a.m., at The Crossing Church in Ruskin (in the Big Lots/Goodwill center just west of I-75 on S.R. 674). Relatives and friends are welcome at the service and the reception to follow.

Jean Evans Ryan Keever
Jean Evans Ryan Keever passed away July 21, 2015, in Bradenton, Fla. She was born in Westmont, Ill., on June 28, 1925, to Thomas and Velma Evans. She attended Hinsdale High School in Hinsdale, Ill., and Manchester College in Manchester, Ind. She studied nursing at the Presbyterian Hospital School of Nursing in Chicago and became a registered nurse in 1947. That same year, she married Arthur Dale Keever, and lived in Elmhurst, Ill., until Dale’s death in 1977. They were active in the First United Methodist Church, the local Democratic Party and the Elmhurst community. In 1983, Jean married George Ryan of Downers Grove, Ill. After retiring from nursing, she worked as the camp nurse at Wesley Woods Camp in Wisconsin.
The Ryans moved to Fort Myers, Fla., and later to Sun City Center, where Jean remained active in the Methodist Church.
She is survived by sons Tom, Pat (Beryl), Kevin (Terri) and Phillip (Sandy) Keever; daughter Nancy (Ken) Krawiec; sisters Audrey DeRango and Sarah McCracken; seven grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren.
The family requests memorials be sent to Wesley Woods Conference Center, 250 Stam Street, Williams Bay, WI 53191. Graveside Service will be held 11 a.m., Friday, August 7, 2015, at Florida National Cemetery in Bushnell.

John H. Kenny
John H. Kenny, 83, of Sun City Center, Fla., passed away on July 27, 2015.
Born in Long Beach, N.Y., and known to all as “Pop Pop,” he leaves behind his beloved wife Margaret; daughter Ann Marie Barnum and her husband Charles; sons John Kenny Jr. and his wife Dianna, Matthew and his spouse Kirk, and Steven and his wife Dianne. He is also survived by five grandchildren: Patrick, Kevin, Jimmy, Danny and Madison.
A military send-off will be performed at Bushnell National Cemetery at a future date. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Hospice.
Leonard Vaughn Moore Sr.
Leonard Vaughn Moore Sr., of Sun City Center, Fla., died Sunday, July 26, 2015.
Known as “Vaughn” to family and friends, he was born to the late Olin and Phoebe Moore on August 27, 1922, in New Castle, Del. After graduation from William Penn High School, he served in the U.S. Army in World War II, participating in five campaigns in the European theater. For more than 40 years following the war, he worked as a chemical operator for Atlas Chemical Industries (ICI Americas).
In 1946, Vaughn married Frances Francum, also from New Castle. With the help of his father and brothers, he built a house in New Castle, where he lived with his family until moving to Florida in 1988. For the rest of his adult life, he enjoyed carpentry work, frequently building furniture and home decorations for family and friends.
Vaughn was a member of New Castle Methodist Church and later of United Methodist Church of Sun City Center. He enjoyed traveling, taking road trips and cruises with Frances after retiring to Florida.
Vaughn was predeceased by son Leonard, and brothers Thomas, Olin and William Moore. He is survived by wife Frances; daughter Lois Price; daughter-in-law Sheila Quinn Moore; sister Thelma Thornton; grandchildren Todd, Ben, Greg and Tyler Price, Christi Thoms Knox, and Brian Moore; and great-grandchildren Madison and Caden Thoms, and Drew and Carly Price.
In lieu of flowers, the family is requesting that donations be made to the United Methodist Church of Sun City Center, 1210 W. Del Webb Blvd., Sun City Center, FL 33573, where a memorial service was held on August 1. Vaughn will be buried at Trinity Memorial Gardens, Trinity, Fla.
