With slightly graying muzzles and gentle demeanors, five dogs came to Sun City Center on May 29 in search of forever homes. The dogs were accompanied by volunteers from the Hillsborough County Pet Resources Center and greeted passersby under the big oak tree near the shuffleboard courts on the Community Association campus. All of the dogs were fully spayed / neutered, vaccinated and microchipped. Special adoption fees were offered.
During the morning, two of the five dogs, a 7-year-old black Lab named Blackie and a little 8-year-old guy, Mike, who liked back rubs, found their humans and homes in Sun City Center.
The Pet Resource Center, located at 440 North Falkenburg Road in Tampa, is the first place for homeless, stray and neglected pets in Hillsborough County. For more information, visit www.hillsboroughcounty.org/pets or call 813-744-5660.
While pets are always available at the main center, according to volunteer Judy Schings, the next adoption event in our area will take place later this summer.
