Dear Editor,
Meals of Hope wishes to thank everyone who turned out for the annual food packaging event at the Borini Theatre in Kings Point.
It’s been a very courageous effort of the Sun City Rotarians to undertake this project for the eighth year in a row, and the results speak for the outstanding job they did. We had 250 enthusiastic hardworking volunteers turn out, and they packaged over 54,000 meals! The food stays right here in the area, going to over 1,000 families every week.
We want to thank all of the volunteers for making a difference in so many lives. This project could never have been accomplished without the generous donations from the Sun City Rotary Club and The Community Foundation [Meals of Hope was supported by a $7,500 grant from the Community Foundation of Tampa Bay through its South Shore Council], as well as the many individuals.
We’d also like to recognize the many organizations that stepped forward with their help: The Shriners, The Men’s Club, The Women’s Club, the service clubs, the houses of worship, the SCC Softballers! A special thank you to Saint Anne’s Catholic church for providing us with storage space to store our food! It truly is neighbors helping neighbors!”
