October is designated Domestic Violence Awareness month nationally. In light of this designation, the Mary & Martha House in Ruskin, an emergency shelter for abused and homeless women and their children, was chosen for the DaVita Way of Giving Award via JSA Medical Group, A Florida HealthCare Partners company.
The Mary & Martha House had to pass a lot of scrutiny with a collective vote first from the JSA Medical staff of Sun City Center, and then with the DaVita corporate team. They did — with flying colors — which is no small feat since the award is given nationally. DaVita awards a $1,000 check to a worthwhile charitable 501(c)3 charity in many areas throughout the nation. JSA Medical is proud that the award was donated to a hometown charity organization.
JSA Healthcare FL presented the check at its Howl at the Moon Costume Party/Open House on Wednesday, Oct. 29, at its facility at 787 Cortaro Drive, Sun City Center.
It was a packed house with costumed residents competing for gift baskets for the most creative costumes. There were also refreshments and treats for all who attended.
