The Firehouse Cultural Center hosted its inaugural Blues and Barbecue fundraiser last Saturday despite the heavy rain that preceded the event. The late afternoon schedule gave the clouds a chance to roll back and welcome the crowd of supporters who came for barbecue and music. “Victoria Hawkes,” featuring Victoria Ginty and Mike Ivey, were the live entertainment during the Firehouse Cultural Center’s Blues and Barbecue fundraising event last Saturday in Ruskin. The evening concluded with blues artist George Worthmore performing in the Firehouse Pub.
