Herta Beatty
Herta Beatty, 90, of Seymour, Ind. and Sun City Center, Fla., passed away Monday, Oct. 21, 2013 at Brandon Regional Hospital. She was a resident of Seymour and wintered in Sun City Center for 32 years.
Born May 1, 1923 in Suderstapel, Germany, she was the daughter of Herman and Louise (Conrad) Gutzeit.
On June 8, 1946 she married Charles Gardner Beatty, who preceded her in death December 22, 2007.
Herta was a member of the first United Methodist Church in Seymour and an associate member of the United Community Church in Sun City Center. Herta was also a homemaker and the world’s greatest cook. She loved raising her children and spending time with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She was a voracious reader and enjoyed playing bridge. Always active, she had been a member of the Boys Club Women’s Council, where she shared her wealth of knowledge by teaching cooking and crafts as well as tutoring the young club members. She was a member of the Schneck Medical Center Foundation, the Hospital Guild, a past member of the ESA Sorority and Seymour Boys Club Women’s Council, as well as having been a Cub Scout Den Mother for several years.
After retiring, Herta took up golf and enjoyed playing until four years ago. At one time she took part in a golf outing with four generations of her family. Herta leaves behind a legacy of love and caring.
She is survived by sons Robert C. (Sandra) Beatty, John T. (Kay) Beatty, and Richard G. Beatty; grandchildren Tyler Beatty, Jared Beatty, Bart (Holly) Beatty, Bridget (Jason) Longmeier, Brooke Beatty and Ben (Shannon) Beatty; great-grandchildren Christian Hunnicutt, Brinkley Beatty, Blis Beatty, Charlie Longmeier, Mack Longmeier and Lola Longmeier; brother Thomas (Shirley) Gutzeit; and sister Annemale Harksen.
She was preceded in death by her parents and husband.
Funeral services were held in Seymour, Ind. on October 28. Burial was at Riverview Cemetery in Seymour.

Joan H. Flodeen
Joan H. Flodeen, 90, of Kings Point, went to be with her Lord and Savior on Wednesday, Oct. 23, 2013. She was born on Feb. 11, 1923 in Taylor County, Missouri.
She grew up in Moline, Ill., where she met her husband Carl (Bud) Flodeen, and they were married on September 30, 1942. They had been married for 69 years at the time of his passing nearly two years ago.
Joan worked as a bookkeeper and retired from Moline National Bank after many years of service.
She was a member of First United Methodist Church of Sun City Center. She was a devout Christian and trusted deeply in the Lord to sustain her through life’s’ trials and tribulations.
She attended many church activities and events in Kings Point up until the time of her passing.
In her younger years, Joan loved to sew and bake. She was a devoted wife, mother and friend. She was loved by everyone who knew her for her warmth, understanding, unique laugh and incredible sense of humor.
She is survived by her sister Eileen Mann of Geneseo, Ill; daughters Pamela Harris and Linda (Dan) Holmer; grandson Christopher Richards and wife Cherie, of Brandon; granddaughter Britta Gibbon and husband Robert of Apopka, Fla.; great-granddaughters Breanna Douglas of Brandon and Eila and Alina Gibbon of Apopka, Fla.
She was preceded in death by her husband Carl (Bud) and great-granddaughter Hayley Richards.
Memorial services will be announced at a later date.
Audrey Vogel Hamlin
Audrey Vogel Hamlin, 81, of Sun City Center passed away October 19, 2013.
Audrey taught music for 52 years. She was a member of the National Piano Guild, P.M.T.A and A.G.O., a charter member of the “Sweet Adelines” in Wyoming Valley, Pennsylvania, a member of “South Shore Sound” in Florida, an organist and choir director in the Pittsburgh area and maintained a music studio in Forty Fort and Dallas, Pa.
Before taking up residence in Sun City Center, Florida, her youngest son Dale preceded her in death. She is survived by son Dr. David A. Hamlin, (Joyce) of Langhorne Pa.; daughter Dawn Maurer (Richard) of Boca Raton, Fla.; grandchildren Lauren Maurer and Michelle Figueroa, both of Florida; loving husband John; stepsons Glen (Sandy) and Eric (Sandra); four grandchildren; and three great- grandchildren.
She was a long-standing member of the Kings Point Piano Quartet and an arranger of eight-hand music. A Memorial service will be held at 2 p.m. on Thursday, Oct. 31 at Calvary Lutheran Church, 5309 US Hwy 41 in Apollo Beach. Arrangements by Zipperer’s Funeral Home.
