Area residents, Hillsborough County officials, volunteers and patrons of the arts turned out in large numbers to celebrate the official opening of the Firehouse Cultural Center in Ruskin on Wednesday, September 25. The regional center is now a full-time operation.
The event included addresses by Hillsborough County Commissioners Sandra Murman and Ken Hagan and even included firefighters from Hillsborough County Fire Rescue, a visit to their old station turned cultural center. During the ceremony, the many volunteers who made the new cultural center possible were recognized. The Riverview High School JROTC provided the color guard for the ceremony and refreshments were served after the ceremony. Appropriately, flower arrangements were placed inside of boots once worn by firefighters.
