In 1974, Triumph introduced the futuristic-looking TR-7 sports car with the memorable tagline as “The shape of things to come.” Coming from an era in which many cars could charitably be described as rolling shoeboxes, the Triumph advertising team could not have known just how right they were.
Although the TR-7 ceased production in 1981, many cars in the decades hence have taken on the aerodynamic shape of the British sports car but few are as emblematic of high technology than the Tesla Model S.
The Model S is an all electric four-door sedan with a range of 265 miles between charges, the most of any electric vehicle. The car has a top speed of 125 miles per hour and can go from zero to 60 in 5.6 seconds. According to Tesla, the car’s drag coefficient is the lowest of any vehicle on the market, thus illustrating the shape of things to come has indeed come.
Last month, Tesla opened their first Tampa area dealership and their second in Florida at 1907 North U.S. Highway 301, just north of Adamo Drive.
