Mary A Banay
April 6, 1921 – June 3, 2013
Born in a blizzard, Mary was the only child of Arthur Leroy Allen and Emma Augusta Jacobs of Colorado Springs, Colorado.
After her education at the Katherine Gibbs School in New York, NY, Mary was sent home to Colorado Springs to avoid the potential danger in New York when WWII broke out. Mary found a job at Camp Carson where she worked until the war was over, then returned to Manhattan and began her long association with noted psychiatrist Ralph S. Banay, MD, starting as his secretary and becoming his wife in 1957. She was Administrator in Chief at Greenmont-on-Hudson sanitarium, which she ran for many years. As Mrs. Ralph S. Banay, Mary traveled to Europe and Japan to attend medical conventions and as part of Dr. Banay’s cultural therapy program for selected patients.
In later years Mary enjoyed her Chihuahua dogs, entertaining friends, and contributing to causes such as prevention of cruelty to animals, protection of the environment, and supporting Native Americans.
She is survived by daughters Mary-Clare Pugh and Suzanne Banay Santo; and grandchildren Raymond Dean Pugh, Zoran Alexander Santo, and Zoë Jasmine Santo, of Cape Coral, Florida and Toronto, Ontario, Canada.
Adrian Joseph Coffield
Adrian Joseph Coffield passed away peacefully at 12:58 a.m. on Wednesday, May 29, 2013. He was 89 years old. Adrian is survived by his wife Suzanne Townsend and her three children.
Adrian worked for Grand Trunk Railroad for most of his life as an electrician in the Detroit, Michigan area. He and his wife of 61 years, Elmira LeFaive Coffield, spent their later years living in Sun City Center, Florida, where Adrian played baseball well into his sixties and also enjoyed the game of golf. Elmira passed away in 2005. Adrian is survived by their four children: Patricia Coffield Laverty, Barry Coffield, Michael Coffield and Pamela Coffield Melcher, and their spouses, nine grandchildren and four great-grandchildren, and a sister, Eileen Sakowski of Warren, Michigan.
A funeral Mass will be held for Adrian at Prince of Peace Catholic Church in Sun City Center on Friday, June 14, 2013, at 11 a.m. Prior to the Mass a brunch will be held in the Prince of Peace Church hall at 9:30 a.m.
A private family burial will be held at Florida National Cemetery in Bushnell, Florida.
In lieu of flowers, contributions can be made to the American Cancer Society or to LifePath Hospice, 3725 Upper Creek Drive, Ruskin, FL 33573.

Betty Norbeck
Betty Norbeck, born Elizabeth Mae Miller, of Kings Point died peacefully June 7, 2013 at Hospice House in Sun City Center, Florida. She was born on March 19, 1921 in Homestead, PA and was the daughter of the late Charles (Charlie) Asher and Rose Caspary Miller.
She is survived by her daughter Nan Jones (Bob) of Seneca, SC; grandchildren Catherine R. of Miami Beach, FL and Douglas R. Jones (Robyn) of Alexandria, VA; and great-grandchildren Caroline Elisabeth and Charlie R. Jones.
She was predeceased in death by her husband, Curtis Charles Norbeck and her sister Mary Levy.
She was a 1942 graduate of Penn State University and a member of Chi Omega Fraternity. Since she moved to Florida 35 years ago, she had participated in numerous Kings Point activities, was an avid golfer, member of Panhellenic Bridge Group and had been the corresponding secretary of the Col. George Mercer Brooke Chapter of the DAR.
A private burial will be held in the Raleigh National Cemetery where she will be buried with her husband, Lt. Commander Curtis C. Norbeck, USNR. Memorials may be made in her name to the Tamassee DAR School, 1925 Bumgardner Dr., P.O. Box 8, Tamassee, SC29686. Zipperer’s Funeral Home in Ruskin is charge of the arrangements.
James C. Pillow
James C. Pillow, 81, of Riverview, FL passed away June 3, 2013. He was born and raised in Centertown, Kentucky to Clyde and Lillie Pillow. He served in the army during the Korean War and was a 30-year employee of Eastern Airlines.
He was predeceased by his parents Clyde and Lillie; and brothers Harvey and Clyde Jr. He is survived by children Patricia and James Jr.; sister Ovelia (Pillow) Allen; brothers Walter, Boise and Elbert; three grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.
He will be greatly missed by family and friends. Arrangements by Zipperer’s Funeral Home.
