The Hillsborough County Board of County Commissioners voted to approve a restoration / wave protection project that could bring the beach back to Apollo Beach during their May 15 BOCC meeting.
The project, requiring an approximately $800,000 investment will involve tried and proven seawater break methods designed to significantly reduce erosion at the Apollo Beach Nature Preserve.
Future projects in the area by TECO and the efforts of ABWIG, the Apollo Beach Waterway Improvement Group, were cited as part of the presentation to the board.
Commissioners voted unanimously to approve the project. Stay with The Observer News for further updates to this story.
