With more than 80 participating organizations and businesses, the 2013 Sun City Center Fun Fest provided something for everyone — with everyone from retirees to families with small children enjoying the festivities. The Sun City Center Model Railroad Club was a big draw, with a small scale model outside and the doors open to the club room for public views of their large and impressive train set.
“We found it! We found it!” children squealed as they made their way inside with an opportunity to run a train. The art and pottery clubs, along with several others, also opened their doors to the public. A wide variety of food was provided by various clubs including the Leatherneck Club and the Shuffleboard Club and baked treats were available from Aquasizers. Who could resist baked treats from a grandmother? (Not me).
The Sawdust Engineers were also a popular draw with some incredible creations, including a refurbished grandfather clock, a wooden iPad holder and, yes, even an exploding outhouse. Admission was free to the event which also included live music, demonstrations and an all-day health fair.
