Calvary Lutheran Church of Apollo Beach held a groundbreaking ceremony for their new Angel Attic building on College Avenue in Ruskin on Sunday, Feb. 24.

Church members, volunteers and children were invited to turn the first shovels of dirt for the new facility. The new building will replace a mobile home that served as the church’s Calvary’s Community Cupboard food pantry. The food pantry will temporarily relocate to 19 7th Avenue in Ruskin until the new facility is complete. The new Angel Attic will be 4,000 square feet and will include a thrift store. The expected completion date is July of this year.

Calvary’s Angel Attic began serving the community in 2005. All proceeds from the thrift store will be used to support the food pantry as well as area residents in need. For more information about the church, visit
