For Henry Brouwer and the staff at Sundance Growers on U.S. Highway 41 in Sun City, Christmas began in August as the poinsettias were first planted. Four months and 200,000 poinsettia plants later, only a few thousand plants remain, most scheduled for final shipment later this week. There will be little rest for the staff of the large nursery, however, as planting for Easter begins almost immediately. Sundance Growers is a wholesale nursery and a division of family-owned and operated Kurt Weiss Greenhouses, one of the largest growing operations in the United States specializing in quality products tastefully packaged (yes, all 200,000 poinsettias were packaged and wrapped) for large volume customers.
