Roger Martin
Roger Martin, 67, formerly of Ruskin, FL, passed away at Gulfside Regional Hospice in Zephyrhills on Monday, August 22, 2011 after losing his battle with cancer. Roger was born April 23, 1944 in Marion, VA where he lived until joining the Navy, where he served for 4 years.
Roger then lived in Massachusetts until moving to Florida in 1978 where he continued construction work before becoming a prototype craftsman for Wellcraft.
Roger is survived by his 5 children; Kim Wong of Bradenton; Kerri Myers of Mt. Airy, NC; Roger, Jr of Modesto, CA; Karen Yeatman of Odessa; and Tammy Bird of Westminister, CO as well as 15 grandchildren and 2 great-grandchildren. He is also survived by 2 sisters, Peggy McKinon of Marion, VA and Wanda Thomas of Kernersville, NC.
Due to Roger donating his body to cancer research, there will be no immediate services. Upon return of his remains, a memorial will be held on Saturday, October 8, 2011 at the Chula Vista Clubhouse; Chula Vista Landings off Gulf City Road, Ruskin, FL from 11am – 2pm.
In lieu of flowers the family has requested that donations be made to Gulfside Regional Hospice, 5760 Dean Dairy Rd, Zephyrhills, FL 33542.
Sandra Casey
Sandra Casey of Sun City Center was born in 1944. Her parents now deceased were Noel and Dorothy Blake. She had only one sister Denise Aaxtell (Keith).
Sandy was a loving mother to Cindy Lewandowski Carlson (Jimmy), grandmother of Josha Lewandowski, J. J. Jamie, Joey, and Johnathon Carlson and great grandmother to Amy, T.J., Kassidy and Jayden Lewandowski. She was a special aunt to David Steffes, Kevin (Michele) Axtell and Brian (Tricia) Axtell.
Sandy was a faithful member of the Church Along the Way in Ruskin, and a proud member of the Board of Directors.
She was raised in Chicago suburbs and later married. She lived in Cicero, North Aurora, Aurora and finally moved to Sun City Center, FL.
Sandy worked as an executive assistant to a retired chairman of the board of a major Chicago corporation. She was also involved in various duties for her church.
Alejandro Martinez
Alejandro Martinez known as Alex was born in Goliad, Texas on April 12, 1940. He died on August 20, 2011.
He is survived by his wife, Gloria; two daughters, Sandy Valencia and Loretta Ruiz; one grandson, Miguel Angel Ruiz; four sisters, Eva Serrno, Maria Elna Delgado, Christina Maldono, Paula Hernandez; and four brothers, Guadalupe, Adam, Juan and Santo Martinez and many nephews and nieces.
