SUN CITY CENTER — Some questions remain unanswered in the discovery of a body in a freezer at a Kings Point residence. According to the Hillsborough County Sheriff’s Office, Carol Kingsbury of Sun City Center discovered the body on May 24 in a freezer located on the back porch of a residence formerly owned by Allan Dunn. Dunn committed suicide on August 4, 2010. Kingsbury, Dunn’s caretaker for the last two years of his life, received the residence after his suicide. Dunn’s entire estate had been in probate until recently. Kingsbury reported that she had gone to the residence to clean when she discovered the body.
According to the HCSO report, the body was turned over to the medical examiner’s office and a preliminary autopsy has been completed. The body is that of a white female, 78 to 80 years old and appears to have been deceased for approximately 10 years. The preliminary autopsy did not reveal trauma to the body, suggesting the female died from natural causes.
Based on preliminary evidence, the HCSO believes the woman is possibly the wife of Allan Dunn, but as of press time, that has not been positively confirmed. According to the report, investigators believe the victim died of natural causes in 2000 and was placed in the freezer at that time, thus enabling Dunn to continue receiving monetary benefits in his deceased wife’s name.
The investigation is ongoing to positively confirm the identity of the body.
