The Apollo Beach Beautification Committee sponsored their second Kite Fest on March 27, bringing parents and children to the Apollo Beach Nature Park to color the sky. The committee provided free kites to those who didn’t bring their own, along with free hotdogs from the grill. According to event organizer Mary Lou Luce, the committee first sponsored a kite fest for the 50th anniversary of the community a few years ago and decided to do it again this year. It was a perfect day for kites, with blue skies and a steady breeze. It was not only a great time for the children but it also brought out the kid in the parents.
