Wellington H. (Wellie) Ent
Wellington H. (Wellie) Ent, 91, of Sun City Center, passed away peacefully at home on Monday, April 16. He had resided with his daughter, Linda, during his illness of the past six months and was surrounded by his loving daughters at the time of his passing. He was born and raised in Bloomsburg, Pennsylvania, the son of the late Wellington H. and Miriam C. (Brink) Ent. He was one of four children and was the last surviving member of his family. He graduated from Bloomsburg High School in 1938 and served in the U.S. Navy during World War II. He worked in the family owned bus company for many years before driving for Friedman’s Express, Wilkes Barre, PA, until his retirement in 1982. After living in Bloomsburg most of his life, he moved to Florida over 24 years ago and enjoyed his active retirement in Sun City Center, FL. He was a member of the Sun City Center Shrine Club and the Egypt Temple of Tampa and was a 32nd degree Mason in the DeSoto Masonic Lodge, Riverview, FL. He was also a member of the Scottish Rite Club, Sun City Center, the former SCC High Twelve Club, the DeSoto Chapter #201 of the Order of the Eastern Star, Ruskin, FL, the Elks Lodge #2672, Ruskin, FL, the Masonic Oriental Lodge #460, Orangeville, PA, a lifetime member of American Legion Post #541, Bloomsburg, PA, and the Honorable Order of Kentucky Colonels, Louisville, KY. When in good health, Wellie was active in the Shrine Club and believed passionately in his volunteer work at the Shriners Childrens Hospital in Tampa. He also had been a former volunteer member of the Sun City Center Security Patrol.
He is survived by his two daughters, Linda McCown and Patricia Casacci, both of Sun City Center, a stepson, Douglas Hippensteel, and his wife, Kathy, Millville, PA, and a stepdaughter, Joyce Wolf and her husband, Dale, Orangeville, PA, several nieces and nephews and step-grandchildren, and one step-great grandchild. He was predeceased by his son, David Ent, in 1983, by his three wives, Virginia M. Ent in 1979, Ruth Hippensteel Ent in 1987, and Marguerite Ent (of Sun City Center) in 2001, by his parents and his two sisters, Eleanor Ent Pollock, Mansfield, PA and Ruth Ent Lupini, Bloomsburg, PA and his brother, Charles (Chick) Ent, Berwick, PA.
A Celebration of Wellie’s Life, which will include a Masonic Service, will be held on Monday, April 30, at 11:00 AM at St. Andrews Presbyterian Church, 1239 Del Webb Boulevard West, Sun City Center, with the Reverend Dr. Mark Salmon officiating. A reception will be held in the Church Hall immediately following the services.
Cremation arrangements were made by Zipperer’s Funeral Home in Ruskin, and burial of his ashes will take place at a later date in the family plot in Pennsylvania. Memorial contributions may be made in his memory to the Shriners Childrens Hospital in Tampa or to Lifepath Hospice of Sun City Center.
Larry Mirkle, 60, lost his battle with cancer on March 20, 2012. He is survived by his wife Karen; sons, Scott ( Kristin) and Charlie (Sarah); brother, Charles; sisters, Jody Hamilton, Susan Gibons, Barb (Jim) Stenger and 3 grandchildren.
Joyce M. Beehler
Joyce M. Beehler died April 15, 2012 of various age related causes. Joyce was born in New Jersey on February 9, 1923, She was 89.
Upon graduating from Jersey City State Teachers College, Joyce moved, with here best friend, to Arizona.
In August, 1947 Joyce married John Beehler in Phoenix, AZ. They were later divorced and Joyce moved back to New Jersey with her two daughters.
Joyce taught elementary school in Westwood, NJ until her retirement in 1988. Upon retirement, she moved to Sun City Center, FL.
Joyce is survived by two daughters, one grandchild, two great children and her lifelong friend, Carol Sorehagen.
Joyce was cremated in Ruskin, FL. No memorial service is planned at this time.
