Grace Vernice Tomberlin Helms
Grace Vernice Tomberlin Helms went to be with the Lord on Monday, March 7, 2011, at age 91.   She was born in Pelham, Georgia, July 8, 1919, and moved to Thomaston, Georgia as a teenager.  She married Emory Helms from Thomaston and lived there until 1959 when they moved to Baton Rouge, Louisiana and later to Sun City Center, Florida.   In the 1940s and 1950s she was pianist and organist at the Assembly of God Church in Thomaston.  She taught Sunday school and conducted Bible studies at various churches she attended and she and her daughters sang at local churches and several around the State.  She worked for the Life Insurance Company of Virginia as an agent and underwriter then later as a bookkeeper for Thomaston Furniture Company and as an attendant at Coggins Funeral Home. After moving to Baton Rouge, Louisiana she was office manager for Bombet & Bombet Pediatric group for twenty years and briefly at Perkins Radiation Center.   She is pre-deceased by husband Emory Helms and great-grandson John Ross Raines.

Survivors include three daughters, Vernice Waddick (Tom) of League City, Texas; Barbara Baker (George) Sun City Center, Florida; Marie Norton (Paul) Sun City Center, Florida; six grandchildren, nine  great-grandchildren, one great-great grandchild; sister-in-law Margaret Tomberlin and several nieces and nephews.

Funeral Services were held on Saturday March 12, 2011 at 2:00 p.m. from the Chapel of Coggins Funeral Home. Burial followed in Flint River Primitive Baptist Church Cemetery. The family received friends at the funeral home on Friday, March 11, 2011.

Beatrice Barber Hisey
Beatrice Barber Hisey, 81, of King’s Point, Sun City Center, Fla, lost her lengthy battle with cancer on March 7, 2011. She was born April 16, 1929 in Philadelphia, Pa. and graduated from Langhorne HS in 1947. She was owner/operator of Taylor Dance Studio in Levittown, Pa. in the 60s and 70s. She is survived by 3 children, sons, Thomas E. (Elizabeth) of Tampa, Fla; David C. (Sandra) of Englewood, Fla; and Susan Dixon (Michael) of Mechanicsville, Va; her brother, Raymond Barber (Lois) of Elizabethtown, Pa; 7 grandchildren, James, Jennifer, Jason, Michael, Kelly, Ryan, and Scott, and 4 great-grandchildren, Alexzander, Connor, Sawyer, and Heidi. The family received friends from 4 to 6 p.m. Thursday, March 10, 2011 at the funeral home. Funeral Services were conducted 11:00 a.m. Friday, March 11, 2011 at the Sun City Center Funeral Home. She will be laid to rest with her husband and soul mate of 51 years, Ernest, at Florida National Cemetery, Bushnell, Fla. Arrangements by Sun City Center Funeral Home.

Evelyn “Babe” Delaney
Evelyn “Babe” Delaney, 92, of Lexington, KY died Monday, March 7, 2011.  Funeral services were held at 11:30 AM Friday, March 11 at Milward – Southland with burial following in the Lexington Cemetery. Visitation was from 3 to 5 and 7 to 9 PM Thursday at the funeral home.  www.milwardfuneral.com

Arlene F. deBolt
Arlene F. deBolt, 88, of Sun City Center formerly of Buffalo, New York passed away on March10, 2011. She is survived by her loving son, Joseph W. Sheehy, and loving daughter, JoAnne  Jones (Michael); grandchildren,  Kevin, Brian, Jeremy and Gabrielle; great grandchildren, Joey, Lyla; nephew William Culley; cousin Audrey Morris. A memorial service will be held at Redeemer Lutheran Church of Sun City Center on Saturday, March 19, 2011 at 10:00am. In lieu of flowers, contributions or donations can be made to St. Jude for Children or Redeemer Lutheran Church.  Arrangements by Sun City Center Funeral Home, 1851 Rickenbacker Drive, Sun City Center, Fl.

Wade O. Hankinson
Wade O. Hankinson, 94 of Sun City Center, passed away on Wednesday, March 9, 2011 at Cypress Creek ALF. Born in Aiken County, South Carolina, he was a graduate of Clemson University and received a Masters in Education from the University of Florida. Wade served in the U.S. Navy during World War II and received the Bronze Star for his service in the East China Sea. He retired as a Lt. Commander in the USNR. He moved to St. Petersburg in 1949 and retired in 1972 as principal of Riviera Junior High School. He was a member of Faith Lutheran Church in Parrish, Fl. Survivors include his wife of 69 years Mary Hankinson, Sun City Center, 3 sons; Wade Owen (Linda) Hankinson, Jr. of Bradenton, Lloyd Edgar (Ann) Hankinson of Sarasota, and Barry Stephen (Jamie) Hankinson of Apollo Beach. Wade is also survived by 5 grandchildren and 7 great-grandchildren.

Funeral Service was held on Monday, March 14, 2011 at 11:00 A.M. at Faith Lutheran Church, 9608 US 301 N, Parrish, Fl. Interment was at Memorial Park Cemetery, St. Petersburg, Fl. Arrangements by Sun City Center Funeral Home, 1851 Rickenbacker Drive, Sun City Center, FL.

Theresa Manderino
Theresa Manderino, 78, of Sun City Center, FL, died peacefully at her home on March 11, 2011 after a long illness.  She moved to Sun City Center in 2001 and was active in several local organizations, including the South Shore Democratic Club, the Kings Point Audubon Society, the International Forum, and the Freedom Plaza Opera Club. She enjoyed attending local cultural events and taking international trips, and was a long-time member of Prince of Peace Catholic Church in Sun City Center.

She was born Theresa Zilka on January 28, 1933 in Monessen, PA, where she lived most of her life.  She was a full-time homemaker and later worked for the Pennsylvania Department of Public Welfare as a Caseworker.

She is survived by three daughters, Susan Manderino of Richardson, TX, Laurie Manderino of Denver, CO, and Amy Manderino of Berkeley, CA; a brother Phillip Zilka of Monessen, PA; and several sisters-in-law, nieces and nephews.  She was preceded in death by six brothers, Cyril, Paul, Clement, Anthony, Joseph Jr., and Bernard Zilka and by her husband, Louis L. Manderino. A funeral mass will be held at Price of Peace Catholic Church on Thursday, March 24 at 11:00 a.m.  Memorial donations may be made in her name to LifePath Hospice of Sun City Center, FL or to the Sun City Center Community Library.
