The Parrish Civic Association is inviting the public to attend the screening of an episode of Dry Creek America’s First Frontier, a national television series filmed in the area. Dry Creek was created and is produced by CMA award winning radio personality and author Les McDowell, following his dream of bringing family programming back to television. The main set, which is the community of Dry Creek, is located just outside of Parrish, south of Sun City Center. The producers also film at other historically significant sites in the region.

“This show is about the love we all share that brings us together in a time when life is going by way too fast,” said McDowell. “It’s the cast of Dry Creek that makes our show so special. Each character brings to the screen someone we can all relate to. These folks have helped me to bring my dream of family programming come to life one episode at a time.”

The show, reminiscent of Little House on The Prairie, is set in the late 1880s in the town of Dry Creek. Last month Dry Creek was given honorable mention during the CableFax Program Awards in New York City for Best Series/Family Programming.

Dry Creek appears nationally on BlueHighways TV on Saturdays at 7:30 p.m., with replays on Wednesday mornings at 8:30 a.m.

The screening is free of charge and open to the public. McDowell, along with other members of the cast and crew are expected to attend. The doors open at 7 p.m. on January 17, with the show starting on a big screen at 7:30. The YMCA is located at 12213 U.S. 301 North in Parrish.
