The Hillsborough County School Board unanimously approved naming the East Bay High School gymnasium after retired educator and coach Tom Lota.  On Tuesday, May 24, current and former students, along with members of the community turned out for the dedication ceremony.  A bronze plaque was permanently placed outside of the gym enscribed with the words, “In recognition of his commitment, leadership and support of the Wrestling Program and Athletic Department of East Bay High School.”  Coach Lota, who was diagnosed with cancer in February, said, “This dedication is not for me, it is for all of the wrestlers and wreslerettes who came through this program.”
