I am always amused when the subject of cars comes up. A young person, say twenty-five or younger, will say they drive an old car. “What year is it?” I ask. The youngster replies, “2001.” In my world, that is hardly broken in. In last week’s photo of the Roamin’ Oldies Cruise-in, you will find nothing that new (or old, depending on your age). The Cruise-in is held on the first Thursday of each month, at the Cherry’s Winn-Dixie Plaza in Apollo Beach. The cars start rolling in about six p.m. and things wrap up around nine p.m.
Cruising in with correct answers this week are James “FISH” Bass (you are exactly right and thanks for the encouragement), Gay C. Ray, Andrew & Bonny (good work picking up on the photo clues) and Sam Baldwin (we will see you there next month). Art Laferriere, Dan Bergschneider, and Michele Brennan all knew right where the cruisin’ good time is. In the just a tad late file we have Uta H. Kuhn with the Sunshine Skyway from two weeks ago.
History is all around us. De Soto (the explorer, not the car) is on my mind. Where in South Hillsborough is this? Send your guess or history trivia to 210 Woodland Estates Avenue S.W., Ruskin, FL 33570 or email
