View From the Road
Christmas is only a few days away as I write this. After a few trips out shopping I was amazed to see the light traffic and the abundance of parking spaces at all of the stores.
Inside the stores was just as quiet. There were also less sales people. I must admit that I enjoyed the more relaxed shopping environment.
The economic climate is definitely reflected in the crowds out shopping. I was able to locate most of the items I was looking for and make my purchases without much waiting. Although this was nice for me, I was certain that the shop keepers and merchants were not as happy as I.
Friday I was near Naples at an outlet mall making a delivery. It was nearly two o’clock and the manager of the small clothing Boutique told me she had only had sales totaling fifty nine dollars for the day at that point. A look of discomfort and terror was coming over her face as she described the recent fall in sales.
We all face changing times; I have had to make adjustment in my spending habits, planning for some possible difficult times. I try to not be pessimistic but I must plan for the worst case scenario.
I believe with some adjustments we can all weather the times ahead. Hard times fell on our parents and grandparents and most everyone came out of it stronger.
I look to the future with a sense of strength and survival and for all of you; I hope that your “View From The Road” will be as good as mine.
The test of our strength will only help us through the days ahead. We have much to be thankful for and even more to look forward to.
