Seeing things from another’s eyes

Each day I receive a great number of emails from around the globe. I have developed a nice variety of email friends from many countries. Most of them I met while in China or en route to there. Some I have met over the internet. All have become important parts of my life.

The internet has made the entire world like my front porch. Emails and online chatting, web cams and the ability to talk audibly on line has made my friendships convenient and rewarding.

I have developed an understanding of languages and customs that I would have never thought would be possible. The deep seeded similarities in our personalities and feelings are probably what I enjoy the most. The diverse cultures, religions and languages have opened my heart and mind to the most extreme tolerances.

When I meet someone new who has very different ideas on life from me, I now am intrigued to find out why. Investigating their ideas and learning more about what has brought them to these feelings is fun. I find it helpful in understanding the world better.

I believe that I was more one dimensional than I am now. I was always looking at life from a narrow perspective. My way, I find, is not always the best way.  As Americans we often view things from what we think is best. Seeing things from another’s eyes gives you a better understanding of what the “View” is for them.

I have come to understand that I have still a lot of things to learn. Learning has become so much fun. I hope that this will make me a better citizen of this country and the ever-shrinking world that we live in.

When I drive down the highways of Florida I see visions of a different world. I like what I see! My “View From The Road” has changed a little, maybe there is more HEART in my “view” now? I hope so.

As I answer these emails I am thankful I have been blessed with an open mind and an open heart.
