View From the Road
Life was good then

For a moment last night I thought I felt a touch of autumn in the air. It was in fact a brief moment, but I will take it just the same.

The evenings seem a bit more enjoyable, but my friends tell me that I have just lived in Florida too long. The most subtle changes seem to be very apparent to me.
I must admit that very hot weather does not bother me too much. A good hat and a 100% cotton shirt and a pair of jeans and I can take anything. As a matter of fact I prefer the heat over cold anytime.

Last week my endurance was tested. While in Miami the air conditioner in my road tractor went out. I was headed to Homestead for a day of foilage plant pick ups from the many nursery friends I have down there.

I was doing fine until I passed a bank with one of those time and tempuature signs out front. The sign flashed back to me a message of 98 degrees. All of a sudden, it seemed a little hotter. Knowing that there was not much I could do about it, I stopped for a tall glass of iced tea. Now, I was set for any conditions.

A simple change in attitude and a glass of tea made all things tolerable. It is amazing how our minds work. I continued to have a great day and by evening things had cooled down.

A peaceful six hour ride back home with the windows down  provided me with all the comfort I needed.

On my trip home, I reflected back on the many years in my life when air conditioners were not available or necessary for my survival, you know what!!!! Life was good then also.

Sometimes a little inconvenience can make our “View From The Road” more realistic.
