View From the Road
Many years ago Santa Claus recruited me as one of his helpers. I received a suit and all the equipment to be a helper.

Some years he has many jobs for me and other years it is not so demanding. Last year I was in China at Christmas time, so he gave me a vacation.
This year I have several assignments, but the suit has a special assignment on Christmas Eve.
One of the other drivers where I work has come up with a good idea to make his (8) eight year old boy have a special Christmas this year. Every year my friend and his son set up the video camera on Christmas Eve to be ready to capture the events of the morning on the following day.
Last week, his son, William asked his Dad about Santa. “Will he come to our house, really? I have seen him at the shopping center, but I wonder if he really will come to our house.” This year, William you will have it on video tape. His Dad plans that after William goes to sleep and the video cam is set and ready, he will put on the suit and proceed to put Williams presents under the tree and then eat the cookies and drink the milk that was so generously left for him. All while the camera rolls on. What a wonderful thing for a Dad to do.
When William Sr. asked to borrow the suit and told me this plan, I was overcome with the most Christmas spirit that I have experienced in a long time.
I know that Santa Claus will approve of this plan and it certainly makes me happy. This will be remembered by William Jr. for many years to come. The sharing of his Dad’s love will always be in his heart.
When I get pessimistic about people and our society a moment like this enters my life and restores all that I know is good. I will be forever grateful to William Sr. for putting to such good use of my Santa suit and making my “View From The Road” a little blurry as I wipe the tears of joy from my eyes.
