RUSKIN — The upcoming weekend’s ideal temperatures will be perfect to accompany Ruskin’s Annual Seafood Festival which is now in its 21st year. “Last year we had over 18,000 attendees and this year I am hoping for 20,000 over the course of the weekend,” said Melanie Morrison, Executive Director of the Ruskin Chamber of Commerce.
For 21 years the Ruskin Seafood Festival has provided a large variety of seafood, entertainment, fun and crafts for locals as well as out-of-town guests. Mitch Traphagen Photo

The festival is an ongoing tradition in South Hillsborough County history. The Ruskin Chamber of Commerce has gathered their biggest variety of seafood yet including new and returning vendors and seafood items.

Guests will have many choices including crab, shrimp, lobster, oysters, clams, grouper, mullet, plus many other non-seafood treats.

“Tony’s Chowder Restaurant in Cedar Key will be bringing their award winning clam chowder to Ruskin along with steamed crawfish from Bon Appétit in Norfolk, Virginia,” said Melanie.

Various local craftsmen will have wares on display and for sale in the marketplace. There will also be commercial, environmental and educational exhibits of a variety of interests to peruse. Feel free to bring leashed pets as the new “Paws” area of the marketplace will showcase local pet vendors.

The area’s favorite local music acts “Off the Cuff,” “T-Blue” and “Caribbean Cowboy” will be back again to entertain the crowd with the smooth tunes of jazz, reggae, country, blues and gospel while they eat delicious seafood.

The children’s area will have pony rides, games and a full lineup of interactive entertainment on a separate stage including clowns and magicians.

Area boaters can browse the popular boat show which will consist of everything from power boats and flat boats to aquatic accessories.

The Chamber will be announcing the new Honorary Mayor of Ruskin at noon on the main stage.

Don’t miss this great local event from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Saturday, Nov. 7, and from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Sunday, Nov. 8 at E.G. Simmons Park on Tampa Bay.
Admission is only $5 for adults with children 12 and under admitted free. Parking is free with shuttle service provided up to the gate.
