OLDSMAR — Tampa Bay’s largest Oktoberfest event, with over 20,000 attendees, brings the best of Old Bavaria and New Florida together for three full days of authentic German food, drink, music and dancing ... along with a spectacular carnival & midway, a great arts & crafts show, and a wild array of audience participation contests October 23, 24, and 25th (Friday 5pm to 11pm / Saturday 11am to 11pm / Sunday 12pm to 7 pm). ST. PETE — More than 50 authors will be present to sign their books between 10 a.m. and 5 p.m. on the University of South Florida St. Petersburg campus for the 17th Annual Festival of Reading including best-sellers Carl Hiaasen, Doris Kearns Goodwin, Candace Bushnell, R.L. Stine, Sue Ellen Cooper, Greg Smith and Jim & Kate Lehrer. In addition to the author talks there will be celebrity readings, a variety of entertainment and poetry readings, an extensive Book Market, food and drink concessions, a Publix Storyland area offering many children’s activities including arts and crafts, interactive games, costumed story-book characters, and a Halloween costume contest.

BRANDON — Bring the kids or grand kids to a free outdoor showing of Shrek at Medard Park in East Brandon for the Tampa Theatre’s “Sunset Cinema”. The gates open at 5:15pm and the film starts at 7:15pm. Bring your own blankets, chairs, snacks and drinks.

RUSKIN — The community market is reopening from 9am to 1pm behind the Ruskin Post Office. Don’t miss out on food, arts, crafts, local produce, plants, and Italian Street painting for the kids.

BROOKSVILLE — 4-H Centennial Festival. Celebrating 100 years of Florida 4-H, food, arts, crafts, games. Hernando County Fairgrounds, 352-287-1371.

RUSKIN — For all the animal owners and lovers, Critter Adoption and Rescue Effort (C.A.R.E.) is hosting Boo Bash from 10am to 1pm at 1528 27th St. SE in Ruskin. There will be a costume contest for all pooches as well as vendors, tours, grooming and plenty of treats.

SUN CITY CENTER — Military Veterans Organizations present Lily Marlane and Lotarr Bergeest in a Gala Benefit Show for the Wounded Warrior Project. Tickets $15 per person. Show at 7:30 p.m. in the Community Hall.
Sunday October 25

TAMPA — 2010 Tampa Bay Auto Show features exotics, preproduction models, interactive drive/rides and alternative fuel options. The show is suitable for all ages and is cheap at $4 for seniors and students and $9 for adults.
RUSKIN — The South Shore Fall Festival will be hosted by St. Annes Catholic Church from 2pm to 10pm. There will be music, entertainment, arts and craft show, food, carnival rides, games, car show, raffle, and Chinese auction.
