Getting Out “Events In and Out of the Area”

Friday October 30
The last weekend of the family-friendly Halloween event (Oct 30-31), ZooBoo, at Lowry Park Zoo, Tampa, features haunted houses and trails for young and older, foam factory, boo houses and more. Unlimited zoo rides in the dark. Kids ages 11 and younger are welcome to wear their Halloween finery. $14 for children, $7 for adults. 7 to 11 p.m.
Saturday October 31
Guavaween will take place in Ybor City starting at 11 a.m. with family Fun Fest activities during the day. Not for the faint at heart, Guavaween Night of Costumed Revelry offers live music on multiple stages.
Polk Naturefest 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. This free event will be held at Circle B Bar Reserve, Lakeland. Enjoy music and wildlife art exhibits, fly fishing demonstrations. Special children’s activities. Food and beverages will be available for purchase. For information, call 863-534-2500.
Sunday November 1
Tampa Orchid Club’s Expo and Auction 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. at the USF Botanical Gardens. Admission is $4. Located on the southwest corner of the Tampa campus. For information visit www.tampaorchidclub.info or 622-1684.
Florida will host its largest cornhole tournament at the Ellenton Sports Arena (5309 29th Street East) Games start at 11 a.m. Free admission and parking. Register your two-person team at www.NationalCorntossTour.com.
Conga Caliente is a free event from The City of Tampa and Coda Sound promoting Hispanic culture and heritage. Al Lopez Park, Tampa, 11:30 a.m. to 6:30 p.m. Experience ethnic food, artistic and educational displays, and a cigar and domino area.
