Ruby E. Hoagland
Ruby E. Hoagland, 86, of Sun City Center, Florida and former Midland resident died Sunday, September 14, 2008 in Sun City Center, Florida. She was born September 17, 1921, the daughter of Francis Anton and Eva Ellen (Foster) Dahl in Mt. Haley Township, Midland County. On September 28, 1940 she married Curtis A. Layman in Midland. He predeceased her March 16, 1986. Ruby had worked for Consumers Power for 31 years, retiring in 1976. On March 10, 1990, Ruby married Laurel G. Hoagland. He predeceased her February 28, 2007. She is survived by her daughter Sharon (John) Skaryd of Saginaw, son Dennis Layman of Midland; 4 grandchildren, 5 great grandchildren; sisters: Hazel Weymouth, Pauline Allswede-Weston both of Midland, Frances Krupka of Bath, Norma Bell, Betty Jean Bernard both of Saginaw, Eunice (Bob) Kotcher of South Branch and her brother Martin Dahl of Saginaw. She was predeceased by her sister Ruth Heinitz-Welch. Services were held September, 20, 2008 at the Ware-Smith-Woolever Funeral Chapel, 1200 W. Wheeler Street, Midland.

Lucile J. Porter
Porter, Lucile J., 95, passed away September 13, 2008 in Sun City Center.
Prior to her retirement and move to SCC in 1979, she was Vice President of a Real Estate Corporation in Northern Virginia. Early in her career in Washington, she worked on Capitol Hill and, during WWII, for the War Production Board. Lucile had been a member of Caloosa Golf Club, and was an award-winning artist of oil paintings.
She was predeceased by her beloved husband of 57 years, William Leo Porter. She is survived by her son Richard Alan Porter, daughters, Janet Lee Stevens and Rebecca Porter-Harmon, and her long-term friend in SCC, Trude Hackbarth. She has five grandchildren, Ricky, Cara, Matthew, Rachael and Dan, three great-grand children, Gabrielle, Matthew and Finn, with another due to arrive in October.
Services were September 27 in Virginia; memorial donations can be made to Lifepath Hospice in Temple Terrace.
Arrangements were made by Lewers Funeral Home, Ruskin.
Ronnie L. Stroud
Ronnie L. Stroud, 62, of Ruskin, entered into rest, Sunday, September 21. He was a native and life long resident of Ruskin. He is survived by his wife of 22 years, Kim; brother, Wayne; sisters, Denise (Fred) Walden, Mary Christopher, Sue Stroud, Lois Hollier; son, Billy; daughters, Vicki Silva, Jenny Valenti; seven grandchildren. The family will receive friends Thursday, September 25, 6 p.m. at Destiny Church, 2322 - 11th Ave. S.E. with services to follow at 7 p.m.
Memorial donations may be made to LifePath Hospice, 3725 Upper Creek Dr. Ruskin, FL 33573.
